Honeycomb weave gets its three dimensional effect from the contrast between the plain weave in a diamond shape and the warp ad weft floats. Where the diagonals meet forms the middle of the cell and the warp and weft floats the highest point. Above are three examples but there are many variations depending how tight or loose the structure needs to be. It is often used in a fine version for tea cloths, especially combined with plain weave panels. The take up of the warp will become slack in the honeycomb stripes therefore it is practical to alternate the structures to keep the tension of the warp even.
